Alan E. “Aud” Stein Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Alan E. “Aud” Stein, age 78 of Aura, MI passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Omega House, Houghton, MI. He was born in Detroit, MI on April 4, 1944 the son of the late Elmer and Saima (Lahti) Stein. Alan graduated from L’Anse High School in 1962 and attended Michigan Tech University, Houghton. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. Alan had been employed at Tilden Mine in Ishpeming, MI from 1974 until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Union #4974. Being raised in the Lutheran church, Alan had strong personal ties to his faith. He enjoyed hunting and going to camp, fishing, gardening, sapping for maple syrup and was an excellent cook and baker. He liked taking rides to enjoy nature or to visit with his friends and neighbors. He truly enjoyed spending time with Jeremy, Kristin and John, but he especially adored spending time with Sienna, Juliet, Mason and Nolan and attending all of their activities and events. Alan is survived by his loving children, Jeremy Stein of L’Anse and Kristin (John) Kahler of Aura, grandchildren Sienna and Juliet Stein and Mason and Nolan Kahler, brother Arlen “Gus” (Denise LaPointe) of L’Anse and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Asenath Sweeney and brother Adrian "A.C." Stein. A memorial funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Aura Lutheran Church, Aura with Pastor Peter Suomela officiating. The family will greet friends at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Immediately following the funeral service, interment will take place in the Aura Cemetery. Friends are invited to a luncheon following interment at the Aura Fire Hall.
