ROSALIE A. WAARA

September 11, 2004

ROSALIE A. WAARA, 62, of Baraga, passed away suddenly Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Detroit, MI. on July 12, 1942 daughter of Herbert and Rosemary (Magnant) Shulstad. Rosalie attended Baraga area schools. She married Stanley Waara in Baraga, MI. in 1967. Rosalie was employed by the former Winkler’s Nursing Home as a nurse's aide for 11 years until illness forced her retirement in 1989. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Baraga, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, Ojibwa Senior Citizens, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 444, Baraga. Rosalie enjoyed sewing, craft making, flower gardening, fishing, spending time at deer camp and going to the casino. Her dog "Tippy" was a special companion to her. Mrs. Waara is survived by her loving husband, Stanley of Baraga, sons, Joseph G. of L'Anse, John P. (Jennifer) of Naples, Fl. daughters, Dianne M. Waara of Baraga, Suzanne Y. Manos of Billrica, MA., Terri (Dean) Tammelin of Herman, MI. and Beth Waara of Baraga, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, mother, Rosemary Shulstad of Baraga, sisters, Pauline (Albert) Goodreau of Baraga and Kathleen (Robert) Acton of Howell, MI. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She is also survived by her special friend, Mark Oliver who was like a son to her. She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert. Funeral services for Mrs. Waara were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2004 from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Father Antony officiating. Interment took place in the Baraga Cemetery. The family received friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel. L'Anse. Following the service the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and luncheon at the American Legion Post 444, Baraga
