Ronald C. Everson, age 79, of L’Anse slept away peacefully at his home per his wishes, in the loving care of his children on Sunday, May 31, 2015. Ron was born in L’Anse Michigan on June 16th, 1935 to Elmer and Dorothy (Smith) Everson. He attended L’Anse area school. Ron enlisted into the Michigan National Guard Reserve in 1953 and transferred to the Army Reserve where his enlistment was completed in 1960. Ron was employed by Celotex Corporation for 18 years, The Tilden Mine for 6 years and drove truck for various businesses until the time of his retirement in 1997. He was a member of The Masons, The Shriner’s and The Eagles. Between these organizations, many pasties had his “thumbprint” in them. In earlier years he enjoyed hunting. Ron had a great love of gardening and sharing/delivering his vegetables to many. He was always at someone’s door with fresh picked strawberries, blueberries or blackberries just because he loved to pick them. Ron very much enjoyed watching his hummingbird friends that visited his feeder every year. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan. “Papa Ron” was very involved in the lives of his grandchildren and was their biggest fan and cheerleader at all of their sporting events. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Nancy of L’Anse, three children, R. Michael Everson and wife Rose of L’Anse, Deanna Lindstrom and husband Mark of L’Anse and Rory Everson of L’Anse, eight grandchildren; Kaley, Sheena, Whitney, Cassidy, Kelsey, Nick , Cheyanne and Brendan and four great grandchildren; Adelyn, Eden, Mason and Averie. Siblings surviving are Elmer Everson of Marquette, Robert Everson of L’Anse and Carol (Everson) LeClaire of L’Anse. Ron is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His faithful companion, his dog, Tyson must be mentioned as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Pukall and his brother Ralph Everson. Funeral services for Ron were held at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel. L’Anse with Pastor Greg Mileski officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. A Mason service was conducted at the funeral chapel on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by military honors at 6:30 p.m. Interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Special thanks to Baraga County Home Care and Hospice for going above and beyond anything the family could have hoped for in keeping with Ron’s wishes to be at home. Also, thanks to Dr. Pynnonen for his compassion and guidance throughout this difficult journey. Not to be forgotten, thanks to all of the family and friends who took the time to visit with Ron; to share a laugh or memory with him in his final days. Thank you to Reid Funeral Home for the sincere caring nature, advice and attention to detail. Having the ability to share with Jack, personal stories of our father’s life by his account, was very heartwarming.
