We are heartbroken to hear of Betty’s passing! I first became acquainted with Betty in childhood when I was the flower girl at Alex & Rosemary’s wedding. Overtime, I came to know Betty & the Haataja family and on occasion, accompanied my Mother when she went visiting at the farm in Elo. Lo’ and behold, many, many...years later, Betty was at Superiorview Senior Complex where both she and my Mother, Barbara Mantila, resided. When we became residents, Betty was there...where it was a comfort & joy to be around her and, where she and my hubby Tim became good friends! I’m so happy we stopped to visit her at Bayside the last couple times we were up there! It felt like I was visiting my Mom again❤️...RIP Betty...you will be missed so by Tim & I!

So sorry to hear of Betty's passing. Loved this lady. Visited with her often at Bayside when my mom was there. Bingo was her favorite. May she rest in peace.

Love you Aunt Betty, I remember fondly how proud you were that when our daughter was born and how happy you were that we had named her Amanda, which was your middle name and also one of your (and my fathers) Grandmothers name. I will always cherish that memory of your happiness!!! Rest in peace Auntie... Love you always!!!!

Sincere sympathy to Betty's family. She and Ray were friends of my parents, Harvey and Lempi Kauppinen, in younger years. Betty was my Godmother.
I have fond memories of Betty, when her niece Vicky lived with the Kokkos in the 1960s and we attended Keweenaw Bay School.
I hope you find comfort in faith and fond memories.

I am the daughter of the late Nelda Wakeham, Betty's sister. I fondly remember Betty and Ray visiting my parents in Atlantic Mine. I can hear her laugh and she will be missed. Prayers for her all who love her.
