ADA C. PELTONIEMI's Obituary
ADA C. PELTONIEMI, 86 , of L'Anse, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Ada was born March 18,1922 in Skanee, MI., daughter of the late Paul and Caroline (Nelson) Fahlgren. She attended school in Skanee and graduated in 1940. Ada worked for a while in Milwaukee returning to L'Anse where she worked as a bookkeeper for the Ford garage until her retirement. She was a member of the United Lutheran Church in L'Anse. She married Sulo Peltoniemi in Milwaukee in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in L'Anse and served as treasurer for many years. Ada was a active member of many organizations including the Baragaland Senior Citizens, Happy “12” Card Club and numerous other card clubs. She was a league bowler, enjoyed cross-country skiing, walking and the outdoors. In doors, she was a fan of TV game shows. She always willing to drive the elderly residents to their medical or business appointments.
Ada is survived by her loving daughter, Carol (Fred) Ranta of Clarkston, MI., grandchildren Kerri and Stephanie, great-grandchildren Breeana, Samantha,Alexis and Jake, brother, Carroll (Marcella) Fahlgren of Baraga, sisters Betty Eddy of Naples, FL., and LouElla Ellis of L'Anse. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by sisters Beverly and Norma.
Funeral services for Mrs. Peltoniemi took place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 in the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel with Pastor John Autio officiating. Interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, L'Anse. Friends called from 12 noon until the time of services on Tuesday. Following the services, friends were invited to a luncheon and fellowship with the family in the Harrington Gathering Room, located in the funeral home. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials in Ada's honor to the United Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
