ALBERT M. "MIKE" LUCAS's Obituary
ALBERT M. "Mike" LUCAS, age 90, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette. He had been a resident there for 1 1/2 years. Mike was born in Calumet, MI. on October 10, 1914 son of the late Michael and Mary (Plautz) Lucas. He graduated from Baraga High School in 1932. He married the former Marcella Menard in Marquette, MI. on July 3, 1936. She preceded him in death in 1989. Mike served in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman Second Class during WWII. Mike was employed by Baraga Manufacturing as a lathe operator until his retirement in 1979. He enjoyed fishing and rock collecting.
Mr. Lucas is survived by his loving daughter, Karolyn Reed of L’Anse, grandchildren, Susan (Dale) LaFernier of Skandia, and Tom (Stephanie) Reed of L’Anse, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild, brothers, Peter Lucas of Sullivan, Missouri, and Joseph Lucas of Detroit. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his brother, John and sister, Mary.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2005 from St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga with Father George Maki, Celebrant. Interment took place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Monday, August 15, 2005 from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass. Family members honored him as casket escorts. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with arrangements
