ALEC C. "CHUBBY" MAKI's Obituary
ALEC C. "CHUBBY" MAKI, 62, of L’Anse, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Bayside Village. L’Anse. He was born in L’Anse on June 23, 1948 the son of the late Alec and Gertrude (Tolonen) Maki. Alec attended school in Skanee and L’Anse. He worked in the construction trade as a laborer. Alec married the former Karen Sward in Zion, IL. on March 21, 1969. She preceded him in death in January of 2011. He was a member of Northpointe Baptist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Alec was an avid fisherman, was active in his church, and collected cookbooks and hats. He had over 800 hats in his collection. He was known as a kind and gentle man.
Mr. Maki is survived by his daughter Laura (Kurt) Mueller of Lincoln, Nebraska, 2 grandsons, sisters, Alice (Jon) Rylander of Lake Villa, IL, Leona (Bill) Rowe of Gwinn, MI., Norma (Bill) Virta of Trout Creek, MI, Helen (Allen ) Nelson of Sterling Heights, MI, Verna (Bill) Funke of L’Anse, and Tina (David) Luusua of L’Anse. Numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers Andrew and David and his sister Sandy.
Spring interment will take place in the Aura Cemetery.
