ALICE I. "OZZIE" SPRINGSTEAD's Obituary
ALICE I. “OZZIE” SPRINGSTEAD, 75, of L’Anse, passed away at her home Sunday, November 2, 2003. She was born in Pequaming, MI. on July 14, 1928 daughter of the late Arnt and Johanna (Wiggens) Soli. Alice attended Pequaming School and graduated in 1948 from L’Anse High School. On July 3, 1976 she married Don Springstead at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Baraga. Ozzie was a member of United Lutheran Church, L’Anse, and the L’Anse VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, singing, nature and bird watching.
Mrs. Springstead is survived by her loving husband, Don, step-sons; Donald Springstead of Kalkaska, MI., Dana (Susan) Springstead of South Boardman, MI., step-daughter; Dawn (Byron) Pettigrew of Kalkaska, MI., 5 step-grandchildren, brothers; Verner (Janice) Soli of Northville, MI., Donald (Shirley) Soli of Aura, MI. and John (Carol) Gustafson of Fife Lake, MI., sisters; Edna Martinson of Marquette, Ethel Caldwell and Marie Hietala both of L’Anse. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive including special nephew, Gary Allman. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Clifford, sisters, Shirley, Jean, Alice, Jean Marie, Helen, infant twin brothers, an infant sister and special niece, Linda.
Funeral services for Mrs. Springstead were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2003 from United Lutheran Church, L’Anse with Pastor Leon Linquist officiating. Interment took place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the church Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until time of services.
