ARNOLD, F. MAKI's Obituary
ARNOLD F. MAKI, 86, of Powers, MI. and formerly of the Tapiola area passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Pinecrest Nursing Home, Powers, MI. He was born in Tapiola on February 4, 1922 the son of the late Evert and Emma (Anderson) Maki. Arnold married the Ruth Koykka in 1948. She preceded him in death in 1976. He had worked as a welder with General Dynamics until his retirement in 1981. Arnold was a member of the South Range VFW Post, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed fishing on Otter Lake.
Mr. Maki is survived by his loving children, Ron (Kaye) Maki of Troy, MI., Jane (Barry) Bleske of Saline, MI., and Janet (Gerald) Novak of Hermansville, MI. 7 grandchildren, Leah (Michael) Armstrong, Justin (Jenn) Maki, Jeff Maki, Sarah, Brianne, and Ariel Novak, and Daniel Bleske, 3 great grandchildren, brother, Elmer Maki of Covington, and sister, Bertha Uuro of Ishpeming. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by 3 children, Arnold Jr., Gerald, and Donald, and 3 brothers, Arthur, Werner, and Benard.
Funeral services for Mr. Maki were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Pastor John Autio officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Elo Cemetery. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Monday from 1 p.m. until time of the service. Baraga County area veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post 444, conducted military honors at the funeral chapel on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
