Bernice Lorraine (Johnsen) Budzileni's Obituary
Bernice Lorraine (Johnsen) Budzileni, age 89, of Chicago, IL and L’Anse summer resident passed away on September 22, 2020 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. Bernice was born in L’Anse, Michigan on January 12, 1931. Bernice was the daughter of Carl A. and Wendla O. (Melin) Johnsen. Bernice graduated from L’Anse High School in 1949. On July 14, 1956, Bernice married James Budzileni in Chicago, IL. Bernice was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chicago. Bernice loved reading newspapers, especially the L’Anse Sentinel. Bernice was involved in Girl Scouts for more than 20 years, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, traveling, and her pets.
Bernice is survived by her loving children, Russell (Judy) Budzileni of Edwardsville, IL, Susan Budzileni and John Budzileni of Chicago, IL, Joanie (Jorge Maldonado) Budzileni of Los Alamos, NM, and William (Mendi) Budzileni of Monroe, GA. Bernice is survived by five grandchildren Chelsea, Brooke, Timothy, Vaclav, and Evangelene. Bernice was preceded by her parents, her husband Jim and her brothers Burlie and Wallace.
Graveside services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020 in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor John Ansell officiating.
