BRUCE A. BUDREAU's Obituary
BRUCE A. BUDREAU, 71 of Nisula, MI., passed away Friday morning August 17, 2007 at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness. Bruce was born August 8, 1936 in Ann Arbor, MI., son of the late Percy and Helen (Adams) Budreau. He attended school in Chelsea, MI. He served his country and was a U. S.Army veteran. Bruce moved to the Nisula area in 1976 and was employed as a bricklayer in the construction business until ill health forced his retirement in 1983. On December 22, 1979, he married the former Joyce Maki in Chassell, MI. Bruce was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in L’Anse and a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Crafts Union. Bruce was a person with numerous interests including motorcycles, fishing, cards, visiting the casino and rebuilding tractors. He had a deep love for his grandchildren, liked to plow snow in the winter and feed the birds in the summertime. Bruce had a unique sense of humor and was devoted to the care of his mother-in-law, Hilja Maki who survives.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, son Larry (Jackie) of Baraga, daughter Carrie (Darin) Sikkila of Nisula, step-son Dan of Massachusetts, step-daughters Linda Seppanen of L’Anse, Sue (Scott) Wagner of Houghton, and Debbie Seppanen and David Halsey of Bay City. His surviving grandchildren are Amber, Aaron, Austin, Zachary and Elliana. Also surviving is his brother William (Lois) of Chassell, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his children Melanie and Ricky and 2 sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Budreau were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2007 in the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel with Rev. Thomas F. Schmeid, officiating. Graveside services took place in the Nisula Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. and for 1 hour before the service on Wednesday. A parish prayer service was held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Immediately following the service Wednesday, the family invited friends to join them for a luncheon and fellowship in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral home. The family has entrusted the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with arrangements.
