CARROLL P. FAHLGREN's Obituary
CARROLL P. FAHLGREN, age 92, of Baraga, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse following a 3 month illness. He was born in Skanee, MI on March 24, 1921 the son of the late Paul and Caroline (Nelson) Fahlgren. Carroll attended school in Skanee and graduated 1939. He served in the US Army during WWII. On November 2, 1946 he married the former Marcella Vizina in L’Anse. He worked as a machine repairman for General Motors, retiring in 1982. Carroll and Marcella moved to Baraga in 1985 Carroll was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga, the Alston VFW Post #7646 and Baraga American Legion Post #444. He enjoyed sports, fishing, playing cards, and traveling.
Mr. Fahlgren is survived by his loving wife, Marcella, son Dan Fahlgren (Paygie)of Holly, MI, grandchildren Michelle (Jeff) Smith, Stacey (Kevin) Rangel, and Shannon (Damon) Utley, great grandchildren Griffin, Ryder, Jared, Sydney, and Julian, sister Lou Ella Ellis of L’Anse, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 from St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga with Father Antony Lukka, celebrant. Interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery following the Mass. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Baraga County area veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse. Thursday evening a parish prayer service will be held at the funeral chapel at 7:30 p.m.
