Clarence E. Haapala's Obituary
Clarence E. Haapala age 78 of Clayton, NC passed away on January 26, 2026 after a battle with an aggressive cancer. He had worked at Celotex as a Security Guard until they went private security. He started a small metal fabrication shop in his garage and retired in 2005.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 47 years; Evon (Kantola) Haapala of Clayton, NC, and sons Steven (Kim) Haapala of Green Bay, WI and Kirk (Maggie) Stein of Clayton, NC, grandchildren Darren (Jenn) Tammelin and Michael Affentranger of Bakersfield, CA, Ryan (Nicole) Stein and Maddie Stein of Clayton, NC, Lizzie Haapala of Green Bay, WI, great grandchildren Aubree Tammelin of Bakersfield’s CA and Grayson Stein of Clayton, NC, and sister Lori (Bill) Johnson of L’Anse. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father Eino Haapala, mother Irma (Leppanen) Haanpaa, daughter Jean (Haapala) Affentranger.
Burial will take place in the Herman Cemetery at a later date.
The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with assisting the family with the arrangements.
