CLYDE "LARRY" LA PLANTE's Obituary
CLYDE “LARRY”, LAPLANTE, 73, of L’Anse, MI, passed away Friday evening, June 15, 2012 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in L’Anse on June 9, 1939 the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Selden) LaPlante. Larry graduated from L’Anse High School. He served in the US Army. Larry married the former Emily Jean Seavoy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse in November 1961. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at the former Celotex Corp, L’Anse until his retirement. Larry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse and the L’Anse American Legion Post #144. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, rabbit hunting, and going to the casino.
Mr. LaPlante is survived by his loving wife Emily Jean, children Gary “Reggie” (Marlene) LaPlante of L’Anse, Pierre (Jane) LaPlante of Watton, Joe LaPlante of Alexander City, AL, and Jackie (Dale) Perrow of L’Anse, grandchildren Kyle, Tyler, Cooper, Brad, Trevor, Tylor, Jared, Jake, Jeremy, Jacques, Brandon, Wally, Joey, Jennifer, and Daniel, great grandchildren Lexi, Mirac, and Lilianna, brothers Rick (Cindy) LaPlante of L’Anse John (Jenni) LaPlante of L’Anse and Dan (Cathy) of WI, sister Mary Ann (Tony) Crnkovich of L’Anse, brothers-in-law Scott (Jeanne) Seavoy and Duke (Carol) Seavoy both of Skanee, sister-in-law Gerry Seavoy of L’Anse, and uncle Clyde “Kelly” Selden of L’Anse. He was preceded in death by his brother–in-law Dan Seavoy.
A funeral service for Mr. LaPlante was held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father Antony Lukka officiating. Interment took place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family greeted friends on Tuesday at 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Baraga County area veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 conducted military honors at the funeral chapel at 4:30 p.m. Following the services, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral chapel.
