DANIEL L. SEAVOY's Obituary
DANIEL L. SEAVOY, 67, of L'Anse, passed away Saturday morning, January 13, 2007 at his residence. He had been ill for several months. Dan was born in L'Anse September 12, 1939 son of the late Walter and Eleanor (Skuggen) Seavoy. A lifetime resident of the area, Dan graduated from L'Anse High School. Following high school, he sailed the Great Lakes aboard ore carriers for a few years. On April 19, 1958, he married the former Geraldine Collins in L'Anse, MI. Dan was employed as the maintenance supervisor for the Celotex Corporation until his retirement in 1996, after 40 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in L'Anse. Dan was a man of many interests, including hunting, trapping, fishing and hiking. Since 1963, Dan had been a search and rescue scuba diver for the Baraga County Sheriff Department. Dan loved people and his camp in Skanee was the scene of many parties and fun get-togethers.
Danny is survived by his loving wife Gerry, sons, Gregory (Cindy) of L'Anse, David (Amber) of Skanee, grandchildren Sarah, Kelley, Dustin, and Dylan, great-grandchildren Ava and Stella. He is also survived by brothers Scott (Jeanne) Seavoy and Duke (Carol) Seavoy both of Skanee and a sister Emy (Larry) LaPlante of L'Anse. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
A celebration of Dan's life will be held later in the Spring. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse, MI. has been entrusted with arrangements.
