DAVID D. CLISCH's Obituary
DAVID D. CLISCH, 94, of Baraga, passed away Saturday January 22, 2005 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit following a lengthy illness. He was born in Hancock, MI. on March 11, 1910 son of the late Dominic and Margaret (Downey) Clisch. David lived in Alston until 1938 when he moved to Baraga with his family. He was employed as a woods worker for 40 years and then worked for the Pettibone Corporation for 10 years, retiring in 1975. David married the former Rose Ellenich on November 11, 1933 at Assinins Mission Church. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and served as the church custodian for many years. David was especially fond of spending time with his many grandchildren . In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, and reading.
Mr. Clisch is survived by his loving wife, Rose; children, Gerald (Shirley) Clisch of Baraga, Father Norman Clisch of Iron River, MI., Paul (Helen) Clisch of Baraga, Thomas (Mary Kay) Clisch of Baraga, and Roland Clisch of Baraga, Colleen (Thomas) Armstrong, of Milwaukee, WI., and Lisa (James) Mantila of Ishpeming, MI.; 28 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Roger in 1998 and daughter-in-law Shirley Clisch in 2001, 1 brother and 4 sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2005 from St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga. Father Norm Clisch was the celebrant and Father Chacko was the con-celebrate. Spring interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery, and his grandchildren will honor him as casket bearers. The family received friends on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 from 5 until 8 p.m.at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse, and for 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday. A parish prayer service was recited at the funeral chapel at 7:30 p.m Tuesday. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with arrangements.
