Dennis P Roy's Obituary
Dennis P. “Denny” Roy, age 66, of Skanee, MI, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 following a long illness. He was born in L’Anse, MI on May 7, 1949, the son of the late Louis Philippe Omer and Marion Viola (Martell) Roy. Denny graduated from L’Anse High School in 1967. After graduation he traveled by motorcycle throughout the Western United States. He then moved down state and took training to become a draftsman. Denny married the former Jane Marie Soli on August 19, 1994 in Aura. When he had returned to the UP, he was employed by Pettibone Corporation in Baraga as a draftsman. He then worked at the Tilden Mine as a diesel mechanic and then went back to Pettibone, and worked on the assembly line.Denny was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse. Denny’s passions in his youth were fast cars and off-roading, along with fishing, bird and deer hunting, wood working, playing cribbage and telling stories.
Denny is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jane, son Joseph, his brothers Louis (Margie) Roy and Thomas (Cindy) Roy both of L’Anse and his sister Susan (Mike) Chellew of Iron Mountain. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Denny were held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father Corey Litzner and Pastor Judy Mattson officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 4 pm until the time of the service. Burial took place in the Skanee Cemetery.
