DIANE MARIE DUFEK's Obituary
Diane Marie Dufek, age 54, of L’Anse passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Mather Nursing Home in Ishpeming, Michigan following a lengthy illness. Diane was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on October 3, 1959 the daughter of Albert Mangrum and Maureen Dufek. She graduated from L’Anse High School and then attended the former Soumi College in Hancock. Diane currently was employed at Pat’s Foods in L’Anse, and had been a baker at the Hilltop Restaurant, L’Anse for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse. Diane enjoyed reading, listening to Elvis, working with stained glass, and sports. Her greatest joy was her family, and she especially loved being an auntie.
Diane is survived by her loving mother Maureen Tormala of L’Anse, brother Eric (Pam) Dufek of Alston, nieces and nephews Rebecca (Jordan), Amanda (Dillon), Joshua (Shannon), and Jordan (Ashley), sister Mary Ann (Rick) Schulze of Hubbell, her fiancé Phillip Toler, and her dog “Lizzy”. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends also survive.
Funeral services for Diane were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Deacon John Cadeau officiating. The family greeted friends on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery.
