DONALD ROY SOLI's Obituary
DONALD ROY SOLI, 78, of Aura, MI. passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at Shulstad Leisure Living in Baraga, MI, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Pequaming, Mi on March 12, 1934 the son of the late Arnt and Johanna (Wiggens) Soli. Donald attended L’Anse Area Schools. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Don sailed on the Great Lakes, worked in the mines and at U.P. Power Company. He then was employed at Celotex Corporation for 34 years, retiring in 1996. Donald married the former Shirley Koski in Chassell, MI on June 27, 1957. He was a member of United Lutheran Church, L’Anse. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and his Ford tractor.
Mr. Soli is survived by his wife Shirley, sons Glen (Sally) Soli of Green Bay, and Mark Soli, and daughter Gail Hollon, grandchildren Chad, Andy, Tara, Ashley, Dillon, Amber, and Kyle, great grandchildren Mason, and Kadynce, sister Marie Hietala of L’Anse and brother John Gustafson of Fife Lake, MI. He was preceded in death by sisters Edna, Irene, Jean, Ethel, Shirley, Jean Marie, Alice, and Helen, brothers Ralph, Verner, and Clifford and a set of twins, and son-in-law Dale Hollon.
Funeral services for Mr. Soli were held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Judy Mattson officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Baraga County area veterans under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 conducted military honors at the funeral chapel at 2:30 p.m. Following the funeral service interment took place in the Aura Cemetery with fellowship and a luncheon being held afterward at the Aura Fire Hall.
