DONNA A. JOHNSON's Obituary
DONNA A. JOHNSON, 78, of L'Anse, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Bayside Village, L'Anse, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Pequaming, MI on October 17, 1932 the daughter of the late Guy and Theressa (Soli) Whaley. Donna graduated from L'Anse High School in 1950. She married Donald Johnson in L'Anse on February 14, 1953. She had worked as a ward clerk at Baraga County Memorial Hospital and at the former Fraki's Market until her retirement. Donna was a member of United Lutheran Church, L'Anse and the Fire Department Auxiliary.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her loving husband Donald Johnson of L'Anse, son Donald (Teresa) Johnson of L'Anse, daughters Cheryl "Sissy" Marinich of L'Anse, and Barbara "JoJo" (Jerry) Marinich of L'Anse, grandchildren Jerry, Dawn, Brooke, Brandon, Jessica, and Charlie, great grandchildren Breanna, Reeyce, Rylee, Khloe, and Fisher, and brother Tom (Judy) Whaley of L'Anse. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert and his wife Rhoda, sister Carol and her husband Nick, nephews Robert Jr. and Shawn Whaley.
A memorial funeral service for Mrs. Johnson was held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Pastor Greg Mileski officiating. Interment will take place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Following the service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel.
