DORIS C. "DOLLY" RUONA's Obituary
DORIS "DOLLY" ALMLI RUONA, age 86, of L'Anse passed away suddenly and peacefully at home Monday morning, January 29, 2007. She was born in Pequaming, MI. on November 1, 1920 daughter of the late Christian and Nora O. (Nielsen) Almli. Dolly attended school in L'Anse and graduated in 1938. She married Leo Ruona in Chassell on November 14, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1991. Dolly was a member of United Lutheran Church, L'Anse, and the L'Anse Golf Club. She was an avid golf player, she enjoyed coffee klatching with friends, the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Pistons.
Mrs. Ruona is survived by her loving children, Matt Ruona of L'Anse, Jean (Jim) Johnson of Aura, Jane (Larry) LeClaire of Big Lake, and Tina (Rick) Hiltunen of Lakeville, MN., grandchildren, Ann, Sara, David, Trina, Christa, Krystle, and Amber, great-grandchildren, Jacob and Hanna Hiltunen, brother, Tutta Almli, sisters, Annabelle Morrow and Norma Brown. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruona were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the United Lutheran Church, L'Anse with Pastor Scott Williams officiating. The family received friends at the church on Thursday from 3 p.m. until time of the service. Memorials in Mrs. Ruona’s honor may be directed to the United Lutheran Church, L'Anse or the L'Anse Golf Club.
