EILEEN D. MILLS's Obituary
EILEEN D. MILLS, 66, of Aura, passed away at her residence with her family by her side, Sunday, February 25, 2007 after losing her fight with cancer. She was born in Utica, MI. on March 9, 1940 to the late Francis and Dorothy (Whyte) Murphy. Eileen attended St. Lawrence Catholic School for 8 years then went on to Utica High School where she graduated in 1957. On June 14, 1957 she married Robert Edward Mills in LaGrange, IN. They resided in the Utica area until 1967 then they moved to Aura. In earlier years, she was involved in 4H programs. Eileen was a member of the Aura Fire Department Auxiliary and also a member of the Aura Hospital Auxiliary. She and Ed also operated a greenhouse for 18 years. Eileen enjoyed playing the piano, bowling, crocheting, and visiting and playing cards with family and friends. Most important to her were her 6 grandchildren and watching them grow up and attending their sports events.
Mrs. Mills is survived by her loving husband, Ed, 3 daughters, Debra (Tim) McElmurry of Farmington Hills, MI., Brenda (Greg) Hentsch of Hixton, WI, and Kim (Jim) Fedie of Nisula, MI., 6 grandchildren, Scott, Ashley, Joe, Greg, Jake, and Brian, a brother, Basil (Dang) Murphy of Carmichael, CA., a sister, Adele (Felo) Reyes of Lake Orion, MI., brother-in-law, John (Linda) Mills of Aura, sister-in-law, Nancy (Warren) Carlen of Utica, MI. and 1 aunt, Marge Healey of Ontario, Canada. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Al and Mary Mills and many aunts and uncles.
A visitation for Mrs. Mills was held on Thursday, March 1, 2007 from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse. Spring interment will take place in the Aura Cemetery. Following the visitation the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and luncheon at the Aura Fire Hall, Aura. Memorials in Mrs. Mills honor may be directed to the Aura Hospital Auxiliary. Envelopes were available at the funeral home. The family has entrusted the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with arrangements.
