EILEEN J. HARDEN's Obituary
EILEEN J. HARDEN, 79, of Baraga, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Eileen was born in L’Anse, MI. on March 30, 1924 daughter of the late Harlow and Irene (Schroeder) Stapleford. She graduated from L’Anse High School in 1940. Eileen married Kenneth Harden in Detroit, MI. in 1959. He preceded her in death in 1976. She was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church, Pelkie. Until her children were grown Eileen was a dedicated mother and homemaker. Later, she was employed as a counselor at the Baraga County Shelter Home for over 10 years. An active volunteer, she was a member of the All Volunteer Baraga County Hospice, Inc. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, boating and fishing. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Harden is survived by sons; Gary (Heidi) Harden of Bessemer, David (Marilyn) Harden of Baraga, Neil (Nancy) Davis of Farmington, MI., Kenneth (Cindy) Harden of Monroe, MI., Fredrick (Ramona) Harden of Denver, IN., daughters; Twila (William) Apger of Calumet, Donna A. Davis (Judy) of Rush City, MN., Eileen Vance of L’Anse, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother, Thomas (Sheryl) Stapleford of L’Anse. She was preceded in death by her son, James in 2002 and her brother, Robert.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harden will be held Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Dean Franz officiating. Interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, L’Anse. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until time of service. Following the services, friends are invited to join the family for fellowship and refreshments in the Harrington Gathering room located at the funeral home.
