EMMY LOU ROY's Obituary
EMMY LOU ROY, 76, of L’Anse, MI., passed away Wednesday November 14, 2012 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, shortly after admittance. She was born in Hancock, MI on February 3, 1936 the daughter of the late Osmen and Lou Muriel (Elmblad) Sirard. Emmy Lou graduated from L’Anse High School in 1954. She married Paul R. “Porky” Roy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse on September 10, 1960. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2011. Emmy Lou had worked at Baraga County Memorial Hospital as an x-ray technician until her retirement. In addition to her work, she also raised her brother Jerry Sirard and her niece and nephew Paul and Jane Sirard. Emmy Lou was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse, the Baraga County Snowmobile Club, and the Pinochle Club. She enjoyed playing bingo, and loved going to the casino.
Mrs. Roy is survived by her brothers Aldrick (Barb) Sirard of L’Anse, Joseph Sirard of L’Anse, Roger Sirard of Baraga, Miles Sirard of Skanee, Edward Sirard of Baraga, and Jerry (Mary) Sirard of L’Anse, sister Annette Schaefer of Dollar Bay, 1 aunt, 1 uncle, numerous nieces, and nephews, including Joe Sirard Jr., who donated a kidney to Emmy, and her dog “Sidney”. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father John Longbucco, celebrant. Interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel
