ERIC H. JORGENSON's Obituary
ERIC H. JORGENSON, age 45, of L’Anse passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital following a 2 year illness. He was born in L’Anse on November 9, 1967 the son of John and Andrea (Erickson) Jorgenson. Eric graduated from L’Anse High School in 1986. Following high school he enlisted in the Navy, serving aboard the USS Ingersoll. Eric returned home, and worked at several jobs until being employed by the Michigan Department of Transportation. On June 14, 2003 he married the former Sandy McCready at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse and they welcomed 2 beautiful children. Eric was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse, the L’Anse American Legion Post #144 and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, and loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family.
Eric is survived by his loving wife Sandy, children Emily and Johnny, his parents John and Andrea Jorgenson, sister Andrea Jorgenson (Chuck Cavanaugh) brother Ed Jorgenson (Shannon Fish) all of L’Anse, parents-in-laws Chuck and Mary McCready of Sault Saint Marie, MI, brothers and sisters-in-laws Chuck and Bev McCready of Sault Saint Marie, MI, Mary and Kevin Mervar of L’Anse, Michael and Krys McCready of Chesapeake, VA, Anne and Greg Vieau of Mackinaw City, MI, and Kathy and Kent Weber of Thessalon, Ontario. He is also survived by his “other mom” Carol Marinich and “brother” Pat Marinich of L’Anse and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Johnny.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father John Longbucco, celebrant. Casket bearers were Chuck Cavanaugh, Kevin Mervar, Michael McCready, Pat Marinich, Tim Kristo, Chuck McCready, and Bart Almli. The family greeted friends on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse from 6 until 8 p.m. Baraga County area veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 conducted military honors at the funeral chapel on Thursday at 6 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials to be directed to Sacred Heart School. Envelopes are available at the funeral chapel.
