Esther M Bunker's Obituary
Esther M. Bunker, age 93, of Baraga, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Bayside Village, L’Anse. She was born April 22, 1923 in Painesdale, MI the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Kanta) Uusitalo. She attended school in Nisula and resided in the local area for most of her life, except for several years in Milwaukee. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga, and the Baraga American Legion Post #444 Auxiliary. Esther’s leisure activities included flower gardening, ceramics, crocheting, cross stitching and playing cards. She loved to play the piano and was the best pie maker ever. Most of all, Esther enjoyed spending time with her family.
Esther is survived by her loving children Wesley (Kathie) Kaurala of Baraga and Torrance, California and Syl (Daryl) Jestila of L’Anse, grandchildren Cindy (Paul) Luokka, Kim (Steve) Domitrovich, Amy (George) Truscott, Peggy (Claude) Robillard, Arnie Jestila and Gail Jestila, great grandchildren Melissa Lorendo, Amber Luokka, Chelsea Truscott, Isaac Domitrovich, Travis Kaurala, Taylor (Tanner) Kero, Taryn Kaurala, Derek Robillard, Samantha Peltola and Grace Peltola, great great grandchildren Madelyne McGeshick and Maev Kero. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Alma, Ellen and Aili, brother Carl and grandson Tim.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga with Father Corey Litzner, celebrant. The family eceived friends at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Spring interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery.
