EVELYN D. ELLIS's Obituary
EVELYN D. ELLIS, 86, of L’Anse passed away Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Bayside Village, L’Anse following a lengthy illness. She was born in Lynn, MA. on December 3, 1917 daughter of the late Harold and Jessie (Dalgleish) Bartlett. She graduated from L’Anse High School and then Northern MI. School of Practical Nursing in 1968. Evelyn was employed by the former Winkler’s Nursing Home, L’Anse and Baraga County Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1980. She married Sulo Ellis in Ishpeming, MI. on February 16, 1963. Evelyn was a member of United Methodist Church, L’Anse, L’Anse VFW Auxiliary and L’Anse Eagles Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Yooper Girls Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, and going to bingo. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and being at camp on Point Abbey. Evelyn was a true and dedicated nurse and was a compassionate caregiver.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by her loving husband Sulo of 43 years, sons; Gary Lane of Lisbon Falls, ME., Dennis (Patricia) Lane of L’Anse, David (Vivian) Marion of Port St. Lucie, FL., Eugene (Faye) Marion of Houghton, MI., numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Gene and daughter-in-law Dorothy Lane, and her brother Earle Bartlett of Mexico, ME.
Graveside services for Mrs. Ellis were held. Interment took place in the Evergreen Cemetery, L’Anse. Memorials in Mrs. Ellis’s honor may be directed to Bayside Village Activities Fund.
