FLORENCE M. LA BELLE's Obituary
FLORENCE M. LaBELLE, 80, of L’Anse, MI. passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Chassell, MI. on September 4, 1923 daughter of the late Fred and Lenora (Raymond) Mathes. Florence attended Baraga Area Schools and graduated in 1941. She married Bernard LaBelle on September 2, 1950 in Hancock, MI. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1999. Florence was employed at L’Anse Snyder Drugs as a sales clerk until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, L’Anse, the United Methodist Church Women, Eagles Aerie 2287Auxiliary, and the Baragaland Senior Citizens. Florence enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and gardening.
Mrs. LaBelle is survived by her loving daughter, Wanda (Richard) Tessmer of White Pine, MI. two granddaughters, Nicolle and Sarah Tessmer, sister, Shirley Vandecasteele of Milwaukee, WI. and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Foy of L’Anse. Several nieces, including, Judy Sullivan and Linda Perry, nephews, and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald, and her sister, Alta.
Memorial services for Mrs. LaBelle were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004 from United Methodist Church, L’Anse with Pastor James Mathews officiating. Interment took place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, June 19, 2004 from noon until time of the service. The Eagles Aerie 2287 Auxiliary conducted a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. Memorials in Florence’s memory may be directed to the Wanda Tessmer family. Envelopes were available at the church. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with arrangements
