FREDERICK D. "FRED" ALSPAUGH's Obituary
FREDERICK D. “FRED” ALSPAUGH, 67, of Keweenaw Bay, MI. passed away at his residence on Monday, August 2, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Rochester, Indiana on June 2, 1943 the son of Foster D. and Nada (Murphy) Alspaugh. Fred graduated from Baraga High School in 1961. He graduated from the University of Southern Alabama with a B.S. in Psychology Fred married the former Ann Lytikainen on September 22, 1962 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. He was employed by Brownell Enterprises as the construction superintendent responsible for building structures at military bases at different locations in the U.S. He enjoyed the challenge and the people he met in his job. Fred retired back to the U.P. in 2008, enjoying reading, stonework and computer games.
Mr. Alspaugh is survived by his loving wife Ann, children Daren (Kimberly Knox) Alspaugh of Georgetown, CO., and Kathryn (Jack) Weber of Marquette, grandchildren Justin and Amanda Weber, and Chloe and Ella Alspaugh, mother, Nada Alspaugh of Watkinsville, GA., sisters Arlyss (Jim) Brown of Poplarville, Mississippi, and Dana (Charles) Blair of Watkinsville, GA, and sisters-in-law, Ruth Baker of Keweenaw Bay, MI., and Connie Lytikainen of L’Anse, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and his grandson Foster.
Graveside services for Mr. Alspaugh were held at 5 p.m. Thursday August 5, 2010 at the Keweenaw Bay Cemetery.
