GERALD EUGENE STIEGELMAR's Obituary
GERALD EUGENE STIEGELMAR, 74, of Ironwood, MI. passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Marquette General Hospital. Jerry fought a courageous battle with cancer and provided an inspiration to his family and friends. He was born in Dorchester, NE. on August 31, 1930 son of the late George and Juanita (McManus) Stiegelmar. Jerry attended school in Wilber, NE. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Eldorado during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Frances Cerne in Los Angeles on September 22, 1956. Jerry worked in the production department of the San Gabriel Valley CA. Tribune until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion in CA. Jerry was an ardent fan of his grandchildren’s hockey games. He was a model railroader, enjoyed golf, and desert motorcycle riding
Mr. Stiegelmar is survived by his loving wife, Frances; children, Paul (Terri) Stiegelmar of Monterey Park, CA., and Francine (Tony) Cerne of L’Anse; grandchildren, Jessica, Andrea, Paul Jr., Gregor, and Sara, sister-in-law, Rose Anderson of Bessemer, MI. and special aunt, Marie Stemper of Monrovia, CA. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers.
A memorial service for Mr. Stiegelmar was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005 at the United Methodist Church, L'Anse, MI., with Pastor John Henry officiating. The family greeted friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will take place in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer, MI. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse is assisting the family with arrangements
