GERTRUDE A. “GERT” BOYER, 84, of L’Anse. MI. passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Oakwood Annapolis Hospital in Wayne, MI.She had been visiting at the home of her niece Sharon Winters in Canton, MI. She was born in Pequaming, MI. on October 4, 1919 daughter of the late Henry and Ethel (Martell) Londo. Gert graduated from L’Anse High School. She married Arthur R. Boyer in L’Anse, MI. on November 9, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1986. Gert had worked for Dr. Marshall and the former Ben Franklin Store in L’Anse. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse and the L’Anse Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 2287. Gert was an important part of St. Vincent DePaul, L’Anse, where she was a dedicated volunteer worker, she also was a voter registration helper during elections and was a willing worker for numerous other groups and organizations in the community. She enjoyed her family, camping, sewing and her daily coffee time with her special friends.
Mrs. Boyer is survived by her loving children; Anthony (Barbara) Boyer of Manistique, MI., Donald (Phyllis) Boyer of L’Anse and Patricia Archambeau of Ishpeming, MI., 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Thomas, Raymond, and Alan and her sister, Margaret “Tuttie”.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father Chacko, celebrant. Interment took place in the Evergreen Cemetery, L’Anse. The family received friends at church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with arrangements. Mrs. Boyer’s obituary may also be viewed at and condolences sent to the family at www.rfsc.net
