Gloria J Baril's Obituary
Gloria Jane Baril, age 75, of L'Anse, passed away suddenly Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Marquette General Hospital, Marquette. She was born in Watton, MI on April 13, 1939 the daughter of the late Jalmer and Vienna (Korpi) Kauranen. She graduated from L’Anse High School in 1957. Gloria married Donald Baril at Trinity Lutheran church, Covington on June 22, 1957. Gloria worked as a supervisor in the housekeeping department at the former Winkler Nursing Home, L’Anse for over 20 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, L’Anse and had been a Boy Scout Leader. Gloria enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, flowers, reading, camping and traveling. She was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. Gloria loved her favorite dog “Luna”
Mrs. Baril is survived by her loving husband Donald, children Kathleen Selkey of Baraga, Cindy (Nick) Lindemann of Baraga, Debra (Chuck Phillips) Ross of Chassell and Brenda (Rob) Mayo of Baraga, grandchildren Kenny, Kristine, Wyler, T.J., Jeremy, Dakota and Robbie, great grandchildren Makenna and Bree, brothers Rudy (Liz) Kauranen, Melvin (Carol) Kauranen and David (Karen) Kauranen all of Watton, sisters Elsa (Bud) Clement of L’Anse and Liz (Ralph) Bischof of Watton. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Donald and grandson Jason.
Funeral services for Mrs. Baril were held at 2 pm, Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at United Lutheran Church, L’Anse with Pastor Greg Mileski officiating. The family greeted friends at the church on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service. Following the funeral service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the church hall.
Spring interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
