GREGORY S. "GREG" HAKALA's Obituary
GREGORY S. "GREG" HAKALA, 29, of Baraga, died suddenly Sunday, June 20, 2004 as the result of a motorcycle accident in Victoria, TX.
Greg was born July 7, 1974 in L'Anse, Michigan. He graduated from Baraga High School in 1992 where he excelled in football, track and hockey. As a result of his sports activities, he was awarded a college scholarship. Greg graduated from of Michigan Tech University with a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering in 1997. Greg was employed by the Baker Atlas Company in Victoria,Tx. as a senior field engineer for the last 7 years. He was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers in Texas.
Greg is survived by his wife, Paula; his mother Jackie Hakala of Baraga and his grandmother MaryAnn Hakala of Pelkie who helped raise him from a baby, brother Richard Hakala of Houston, TX, and his sister Darlene Forest of Florida He was preceded in death by his father, Jack. Greg had many interests including anything involving power sports, racing and engines.
Funeral services for Mr. Hakala were held Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 11 am from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse, MI. Fr. Chacko officiated and interment took place in the Baraga Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral chapel Wednesday evening, June 30, 2004 from 6 until 9 p.m. and for 1 hour before the services on Thursday.
