Dear Aurelia, so sorry for your loss. You probably won't remember me, but about 35 years ago, dad and mom, Les and Ivy Mann, brought us to MI on vacation. We stopped by your place and you had smoked salmon, the best I have ever eaten. Dad would tell us all kinds of stories about his friend, Harold. You have my heartfelt sympathy and keep the memories close to your heart!

Harold touched my life only for a short time, but I found him to be a wonderful, caring sincere person, with a love for life and the outdoors.He made me at home while staying there as if he had known me all my life and tired his best to teach me to play cribbage, but I was a lost cause. I will always remember the "twinkle" in his blue eyes and the forever "toothpick" in his mouth.
I am so blessed to have had him in my life.

My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to everyone. 'Uncle' Harold will surely be missed by many, many people: relatives, friends, acquaintances and many more. I remember 'Uncle' Harold mostly from the days as a youngster when I lived next to his J & H Welding Shop. He was a true example of a 'giver'; not necessarily of material things but so many intangibles such as love. May God's Blessings of direction, guidance, love, and protection be with y'all now and always.

Why is it we never seem to get done the things we intended to do until it is too late. Learning to mine gold in Alaska was something I wanted to do with my Uncle. He said it was great fun and I am a believer. I wanted to spend an entire deer season at camp eating good food, drinking good spirits, and playing cards into the wee hours of the morning. Some things my Uncle did share with me are: As a young man being told to sink or swim in some of the coldest water on this planet. Helping replace a toilet for a neighbor because it needed doing. Staying close to your brothers and sisters for they are family, be they saints or sinners. Open your house to all for they are your friends. Do not follow a man who is hard of hearing on an ATV through unfamiliar woods. You could get lost. Not to worry, he will find you if you do get lost. Make sure the sauna is stoked with plenty of wood. A special friend, teacher and Uncle has joined my mother and they are having the best cribbage match you could ever imagine. Our love to all. I have many memories of Uncle Harold.Mostly how he used to laugh at me and my city ways.I spent summers up north and always liked staying at his house.They always worked hard at the shop but you knew when they came home we'd go fishing or some other adventure.One time we were fishing on the sturgeon River,I climbed up from the bank grabbed a stump and broke open a bees hive.I must have got stung a hundred times and i was running down the road Uncle Harold grabbed me and threw me in the water.My Mom took one look at me later and said " you can stay at Uncle Harolds" I was full of bee stings but I thought "yay".He was an amazing man who when he laughed made you want to laugh with him.He is going to be missed by anyone whoever knew him.
To Uncle Harolds family: My sincere sympathy for your loss. We will all miss him dearly. He gave me many great experiences and good times, as well as taught me and others many life experiences. He was a friend to all who met him and always had a smile on his face when company would come to visit.
He will be missed.

We are of course in the families hearts at this sad time but the great memories will continue such as when Harold, Hogan, Ed Aho and Bob played cards at the camp and Bob had too much diet soda and Harold let him stay in a bunk until daylight and fixed pancakes too before he went on his way.
