Helen A Ala's Obituary
Helen A. Ala, age 89, of Baraga, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at Shulstad Leisure Living in Baraga, Michigan with her family by her side. She was born in L’Anse on March 31, 1928, the daughter of the late Henry and Josephine (Kleindienst) Paris. Helen graduated from L’Anse High School in 1946. On February 8, 1947 she married Edward Ala in L’Anse. He preceded her in death in 1992. Helen was a member of the Baraga County Catholic Community. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, gardening and taking care of other people. She was the family’s caregiver throughout her life.
Mrs. Ala is survived by her loving children, son James (Mary) Ala of Baraga and Susan (David) Massie of Baraga, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister Roseanna Falk of Ohio and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sons Michael and Larry and siblings Henrietta, Walter, Alice and Margaret.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 am, Monday, August 14, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L'Anse with Father Corey Litzner, celebrant. The family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon immediately following Mass in the church hall. Interment took place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
