Jacquelynn M. "Jackie" Grant-Jaakkola's Obituary
Jacquelynn “Jackie” Marie Grant-Jaakkola, age 68, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, in Duluth, Minnesota. Born in L’Anse, Michigan, Jackie spent most of her life in Elo, where she created a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Jaakkola; her sons Jason (Nicholle) Grant with their children Evan, Caden, and Rilynn, and Chad (Stephanie) Grant with their children Taylor, Morgan, and Emerson; her stepchildren Bobbie Jo Jaakkola, April Jaakkola, and Travis Jaakkola Sr. with children Kailee, Maci, and Travis Jr. Jackie also leaves behind her siblings Jimmy Mukka, John Mukka, Jerry Mukka, Jeff Mukka, Jane Merver, Jared Mukka, and Joel Mukka.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Curt Grant, her daughter Amanda Grant, and her parents, Gordan and Rita Mukka.
A graduate of L’Anse High School, Jackie embraced a life rooted in family and the simple joys of the Upper Peninsula. She loved tending to her garden, spending evenings around a campfire under the stars, and enjoying the calm beauty of the water—though she preferred to stay on shore. Her faithful dog, Blue, rarely left her side—her constant companion and gentle protector in her later years.
Jackie was, above all, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She cared deeply for her family and was happiest when they were near. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by those who knew her.
A memorial to celebrate Jackie’s life will be planned at a future date.
