JAMES A. DRAPER, JR.'s Obituary
James A. Draper, Jr, age 62, of Baraga passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse following a lengthy illness. He was born in Tecumseh, MI December 1, 1952 the son of late James and Virginia (Culbert) Draper, Sr. Jim graduated from Clinton High School in 1970. He owned and operated Great Lakes Specialized Carrier. Jim married the former Linda Lawson at the Clinton Baptist Church in Clinton, MI on April 28, 1979. He was a member of the Alston Slow Pokes Tractor Club.
Mr. Draper is survived by his loving wife Linda, son James (Maggie) Draper of Port Orange, FL, step son Jeffrey (Erica) Lawson of Ann Arbor, MI, daughters Carrie Draper and special friend John of Riverview, MI, Heather (Leon) Brunk of L’Anse, Kristine Draper of L'Anse, Stacey Pope of Jonesville, MI and Nichole Draper of Adrian, MI, grandchildren Jordan, Seth, Andrea, Devon, Kylie, Damon, Deshawn, Nathan, Darion, Dakota, Cole, Rylee, Miles and Reese. Other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and uncles and aunts.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Jerry Bishop officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room located at the funeral chapel.
Spring interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery.
