JAMES E. MAKI's Obituary
JAMES E. MAKI, age 62, of Amasa, MI passed away at his home Friday, April 22, 2011. He was born in Watton, MI on May 30, 1948 the son of the late Eino and Pauline (Rantanen) Maki. Jim graduated from L’Anse High School. He served in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star. Jim worked as a machine operator for the Amasa Lumber Mill. He had also worked for many years for the JFK Maki Septic Tank Cleaning Company. Jim was a member of Covington VFW Post #8945.
Mr. Maki is survived by his brother Fred Maki of Watton, sister Virginia Campbell of Ontonagon, niece Tammy Taylor, and cousins Bill and Terry Campbell.
Funeral services for Mr. Maki were held at 1 pm Friday, April 29, 2011 from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Friday from 12 noon until the time of the service. Baraga County area veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 conducted military honors at the funeral chapel on Friday at 12:30 pm. Interment took place in the Covington Cemetery.
