James Joseph “Jimmy Joe” Kauppinen, age 70 of Houghton, passed into eternal life on January 2, 2023, after a brief illness.
He was born October 13, 1952, in Hancock.
He was predeceased by his father Harvey, mother Lempi, and brother David.
Jimmy Joe's survivors include his brother Gary (Sandy) Kauppinen of Keweenaw Bay, and sister Judith Kreiger of San Lorenzo, NM; also surviving are his guardians: sister Jacqueline (James) Winkowski of Marquette, and nephew Scott (Nathy) Kirtley, of Bogota, Colombia.
The family extends appreciation to everyone at Portage House who gave Jimmy Joe loving care, comfort, support, and friendship over many decades.
No services are planned at this time.
