JAMES R. "JIM" JESTILA's Obituary
JAMES R. "JIM" JESTILA, 66, of Scottville, MI., formerly of L'Anse, passed away Monday, March 20, 2006 at Tendercare Nursing Home, Ludington, MI. following a lengthy illness. He was born in L'Anse, MI. on February 3, 1940 son of the late John and Sadie (Jarvi) Jestila. Jim graduated from L'Anse High School. He was employed at Selkey Manufacturing as a welder and machine operator. Jim married the former Hazel M. Carr in Hancock, MI. on August 13, 1966. She preceded him in death on December 13, 2004. He enjoyed the out doors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Jestila is survived by his sisters, Eleanor Mickles and Alice (Bob) Freiburger of Flint, MI., stepchildren, Michael (Jeanene) Sanregret of L'Anse, Daniel (Jan) Sanregret of Scottville, MI. and Francis "Frank" (Vicki) Sanregret of L'Anse, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Jestila and brothers, Edward and John Jestila, Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Jestila were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2006 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Father Augustin George officiating. Spring interment will take place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Friday, March 24, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Following the service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and luncheon in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral home. The family has entrusted the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with arrangements.
