JEANNETTE L. HANSEN's Obituary
JEANNETTE L. HANSEN, 96, of Miami and former Covington resident, passed away Monday, December 3, 2007 at St. Ann’s Hospice in Miami, Fl. She had been in ill health for some time. She was born in Covington, MI. on September 8, 1911 the daughter of the late Solomon and Sofia (Koivuniemi) Takala. She attended school in Covington and graduated from L’Anse High School Adult Education class in 1973, as valedictorian of her class. On April 10, 1950, she married Raymond Hansen and he preceded her in death in 1970. Jean had an interest and intellectual curiosity in a variety of areas including languages, homemaking, politics, and community affairs. She was the Avon Lady for years and active in the 4-H club. She worked as a housekeeper in Lake Forest, IL., planted trees for the Forestry Service and entertained locals with her harmonica. She was fondly known as “Jean, the harmonica queen” She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington and a life member of the VFW auxiliary Covington Post 8945 Mrs. Hansen is survived by her children Ray (Debbie) Hansen of Las Cruces, N.M., Sarah (James) Moesch of Miami, FL., Victoria Hansen (Jamie) Markham of Knapp, WI.; Mary Salli of Iron Mountain, grandchildren, Barbara,Kenny,Mark, Chris,Debbie,Pauline, Jay, Jessica, Zachary, Rachelle, David, Rachael, Andrea, James Jr., and Nathan., sister Vienna Wimpari of Lakeworth, FL. Numerous great and great-great grandchildren also survive along with nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was preceded in death by son Ronnie ,daughter Marjorie, and grand son Michael, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hansen were held at 11 am Monday, December 10, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Covington with Pastor Mark Reinsch officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Covington Cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse from 6 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Sunday evening a VFW Auxiliary service was held at 7 p.m in the funeral chapel. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with arrangements.
