JEFFREY "JEFF" MICHAEL KANGAS's Obituary
A memorial service for JEFFREY MICHAEL KANGAS, 45, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle was held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Pastor Weldon Townsend officiating. Interment took place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends on Friday from 12 noon p.m. until time of the service. Following the service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral home.
Jeff was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2007. He was born in L'Anse MI. on October 15, 1961 son of James and Charlene (Bentzen) Kangas. Jeff graduated from L'Anse High School in 1979 and received his Bachelor of Science in M.I.S. from Central Michigan University. He married the former Julie Thelen on July 15, 2006. Jeff owned the Jeff M. Kangas State Farm Agency in Hemlock, MI. and was a member of Shield of Faith Church in Shields, MI. Jeff was an avid golfer and sportsman. His life’s greatest joy was spending time with his children, which included school and church activities and coaching 9 of his children’sports teams.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Julie, his children, Elizabeth, Mitchell, and Christian Kangas, and Nikki, Brianna, and Desmond White, his parents, Jim and Charlene Kangas of L'Anse, two sisters, Kristen (Rob) Kraft and Stacey (Brian) Stiebe both of St. Johns, MI., aunts and uncles, Wayne (Chris) Kangas of DeWitt, MI. and Larry (Jean) Kangas of L'Anse, nieces and nephews, Hannah, Lauren Chelsea, Nathan, Taylor, and Michael, his parents-in-law, Alan (Alice) Thelen, sister-in-law, Linda Thelen all of St. Johns, MI. and brother-in-law, Tim (Kiersten) Thelen of Grand Ledge, MI. Numerous cousins, other relative, and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carl and Mildred (Wilson) Bentzen, and paternal grandparents, Waino and Anna (King) Kangas. The family has entrusted the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with arrangements.
