JEROME E. 'YOGI' CREBESSA's Obituary
JEROME E. ‘YOGI’ CREBESSA , 47, of Milwaukee and formerly of L’Anse, passed away at his residence in Milwaukee on Wednesday, June 9,2010, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Milwaukee, WI. on December 2, 1962 the son of Roger and Lois (Crebessa) Bogda. After high school, Yogi studied in the mechanical field at Northern Michigan University for 1 year. He married the former Sandra Marlega in Milwaukee on October 22, 1988. He was a professional painter and owned his own business. He prospered in his business because he went where men feared to go and specialized in high-rise buildings inside and out. Yogi was one of a kind and will always be remembered that way. Yogi was a member of Parkway Apostolic Church in Milwaukee. He enjoyed various activities including berry picking, hunting, fishing, swimming, singing, dancing, 4 wheeling, long bike rides with his family, bonfires, and loved racing stock cars. Yogi was a student of the Bible and enjoyed biblical discussions. He was a very loving, compassionate and kind person and was loved by all for his positive and uplifting love for life. His main love, though, was being with his family.
Mr. Crebessa is survived by his loving wife Sandra, children Melissa (Sean) Kruse, Cheyenne Crebessa, Samantha Crebessa, Roger "Boo" Crebessa, and Jerry Jr., all of Milwaukee, grandchild Ava, arriving this summer, his parents Roger and Lois Bogda of L'Anse, brother Donald "Goob" Bogda of Green Bay, WI., and sister Cheryl "Sister" Bogda of L’Anse. He is also survived by his aunts, Aurelia Hull of Grafton, WI., Agnes Huecksteadt of Baraga, and CeCelia Owens of Baraga, MI .In addition, he is survived by his nieces and nephews Leona Bogda, Angelica Bogda, Roger Bogda, Sierra Curtis and Louis Curtis Jr. and many cousins. Also his special cousin that was more of a brother to him, David Hull, Sr. He was preceded in death by many loved ones with warm embrace on his homecoming. His gift of joke telling, the comfortable atmosphere he projected and his smiling face will always be remembered. He will be loved and sadly missed by all.
Funeral services for Mr. Crebessa were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Pastor Ray Emard officiating. Interment will take place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family greeted friends in the funeral chapel on Monday, June 14, 2010 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Monday evening a traditional drumming ceremony took place in the funeral chapel. Following the service on Tuesday the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens in Baraga.
