JOANNE M. "JODY" FISH's Obituary
JOANNE M. "JODY" FISH , 66, of L'Anse, MI. passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Pequaming on February 25, 1942 the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Olsen) Van. Jody graduated from L'Anse High School in 1960. On March 25, 1961 she married James "Jim" Fish in L'Anse. For 30 years, Jody worked at the former Winkler Nursing Home in billing and rehabilitation and at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in the billing department, retiring in 1998. She was a member of United Lutheran Church. Jody was very family oriented, she enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren, and coffee klathing and visiting with her friend, Ellen Biekkola. Jody loved her lawn and garden. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Fish is survived by her loving husband, Jim, sons, Jeff "Gubba" (Shannon) Fish of L'Anse, Jerry Fish of L'Anse , and Jay (Beth) Fish of Edgar, WI., grandchildren, Melissa, Logan, Madison, Jerry Jr., Jimmy, Carisa, Abby, and Matt, great grandchildren, Reeyce, and Kaylee, sister, Pat (Bob) Keippela of Elo, and daughter-in-law, Sissy Fish of Marquette. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her son Jim in 1983, and her brother, Dean Van.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fish were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from United Lutheran Church, L'Anse with Pastor Scott Williams officiating. Spring interment will take place in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
