John Marvin Holma's Obituary
John Marvin Holma, age 44, of Covington passed away unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack on Monday, September 26, 2016. He was born in Marquette, MI on December 3, 1971, the son of Marvin and Linda (Rajala) Holma. John graduated from L’Anse High School in 1990. He was an employee of Connor Sports in Amasa, MI for 18 years. John was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Covington. He spent his free time in the great outdoors; hunting fishing and four-wheeling. His passions included never giving up hope for a winning season for his Detroit Lions, watching the Tigers, and playing endless summers of softball.
John is survived by his loving family, mother Linda Holma (Francis Kannainen) of Houghton, brother Craig (Maura) Holma of Iron River, niece Hannah Holma of Marquette, and John’s significant other Renee Eddy of Covington. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousin also survive along with his two dogs, Kramer and Rambo and two cats Diamond and Mystery. He was preceded in death by his father Marvin Holma and twin brother Bob Holma.
Funeral services for John were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Mark Reinsch officiating. The family greeted riends at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 11 am until the time of the service. Immediately following the funeral service, friends were invited to join the family for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral chapel. Interment took place in the Covington Cemetery.
