JOHN J. SCHJOTH, Sr.'s Obituary
JOHN J. SCHJOTH, Sr. , age 63, of L'Anse passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Bayside Village, L'Anse. He was born in L'Anse on December 4, 1945 the son of the late Edward and Evelyn (Roberts) Schjoth. John attended school in L'Anse. He married the former Gloria Haataja in L'Anse. She preceded him in death in July of 2008. John had worked in the logging industry for various logging companies until health issues forced his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L'Anse. John enjoyed vegetable gardening, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Schjoth is survived by his loving children, John. J. Schjoth, Jr. (Beth) of Keweenaw Bay, Heidi Schjoth (Art) of Hancock, Heather Kissel of Trenary, and Holly Bohto of Hancock, grandchildren, Rebecca, Patrica, Damian, Hailey, Brayden, Kyle, Kylie, and Brandon, brother, Richard Schjoth of Baraga, sisters, Shirley (Jerry) McEwen of L'Anse and Betty Jane Saari of Baraga. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward “Dokie”, sister, Mary Ann, brother-in-law, Eddie Ray Niemi and niece, Carol Ann.
A memorial service for Mr. Schjoth will be scheduled at a later time.
