KATHRYN A. "KATHY" CAVANAUGH's Obituary
KATHRYN A. “KATHY” CAVANAUGH, 48, of L’Anse passed away suddenly Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse. She was born in L’Anse on December 20, 1958 daughter of the late Robert and Patricia (Connor) Kemppainen. Kathy graduated from L’Anse High School in 1977. She married Charles “Chuck” Cavanaugh in L’Anse on September 6, 1986. Kathy worked as a project clerk for the National Park Service on Isle Royal for 10 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse and taught religious classes at the church. Kathy enjoyed reading, traveling, outdoors, family, and rides in the woods. She loved her two faithful companions, Buckets and Sophie.
Mrs. Cavanaugh is survived by her loving husband, Charles, children, Christopher and Daniel both of L’Anse, brothers, Robert (Dawn) Kemppainen of L’Anse, and Ronald Kemppainen of Grand Rapids, sisters, Patricia (William) Tembreull of Arnheim, Mary Grondin of L’Anse, and Rebecca Smith of L’Anse. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cavanaugh were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father George Maki officiating. Interment took place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Monday, July 9, 2007 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m and for 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Monday evening a parish prayer service was held in the funeral chapel at 7 p.m. The family has entrusted the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with arrangements.
