KENNETH E. "KENNY" LEAF's Obituary
KENNETH E. "KENNY" LEAF, 73, of L'Anse, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at his residence, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Covington, MI. on November 20, 1933 son of the late John and Fannie (Anderson) Leaf. Kenny attended school in Covington and graduated from L'Anse High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorable discharged in 1955. Kenny married the former Maryann Rolloff in Sidnaw, MI. on June 20, 1964. He was employed as payroll clerk for the Baraga County Road Commission, retiring in 1999 following 32 years of service. Kenny was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Covington, and the L'Anse American Legion Post 144. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching softball and football.
Mr. Leaf is survived by his loving wife, Maryann, children, Kenneth J. Leaf of Covington, Mike A. Leaf of Sidnaw, and Mark Leaf of L'Anse, grandchild, Kenneth J. Jr. of Bridgeville, DE., aunt, Emma Anderson, brother-in-law, Richard Rolloff, sister-in-law, Elvie Longrie, and special friends, Kandis and Christine Schroeder. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. His brothers, Paul, William, Roy, and sister Carolyn preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Leaf were held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel with Pastor Judy Mattson officiating. Interment took place in the Covington Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Friday from 12 noon until time of the service. The Baraga County Area Veterans, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post 444, conducted military honors at the funeral chapel at 1:30 p.m. Following the service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral home.
