Kenneth Ray Lindblom's Obituary
Kenneth Ray “Ken” Lindblom, age 79 of Baraga, peacefully passed away with his loving family by his side on Monday, January 25, 2016. He was born in his family's homestead on Lindblom Road on August 13, 1936 to Mabel (Nordstrom) and Edward Lindblom.
Kenneth graduated from Baraga High School in 1954. He married Anita Grace Pelto, the love of his life, on November 24, 1956. They were wed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga. They just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Ken's faith was strong. He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He was a Church Council Member for many years.
He was a member of Michigan National Guard, served on the Baraga School Board for several years, he was a long time member of the Baraga Township Lions Club.
He owned and operated Lindblom Drywall, Inc. for many years. He dry walled a good percentage of the homes in Baraga and Houghton County. His son Ken took over the business and still operates Lindblom Drywall.
He was an avid rabbit hunter and loved his beagles. After retirement, he enjoyed his woodworking projects and loved working on his lawn. Ken enjoyed traveling out West with his wife and family. His favorite books were Westerns by Louis Lamour. Ken also enjoyed cutting firewood. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan.
Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and loved giving all his grandchildren "whisker rubs"!
Kenneth is survived by his wife Anita (Pelto), children Ken Lindblom (Robin), Jody Pelon (Jerry), John (Debbie), and Jeff from Allendale, MI, grandchildren Steve Kimball, Tina Mayo (Anthony), Jill Pelon (Derek), Hailey Pelon (Pete), Josh Linder (Sarah), Joe Linder (Sarah), Ashley Mitchell (Jason), Alisha Lindblom, Dylan Lindblom and Jessica Lindblom. Great-Grandchildren, Saija, Belle, Tayden, Cannon, Mason, Eli, Kylie, Blair, Aubrey and Ally. He will also be missed by his sixteen year old beagle Kandy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Edward.
Funeral services for Mr.Lindblom were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Baraga with Pastor Julie Belew officiating. The family greeted friends at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Immediately following the funeral service the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the church.
Spring interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery.
