Laila S. Majeski's Obituary
Laila S. Majeski, age 97 of Ashland, WI passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Court Manor Health Services in Ashland.
Laila was born in Aura on August 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Charles and Maria (Alatalo) Maki.
She attended school in Pequaming and L'Anse. She married Leo Majeski on February 24, 1951. They were married for 58 years before his death on May 20, 2009.
Leo and Laila lived in Milwaukee, WI until their retirement in 1989. They moved to Aura for several years before moving to West Allis, WI. Recently, Laila lived in Mellen, WI and Ashland, WI.
Laila had several jobs throughout her residence in Milwaukee, and did volunteer work in Aura. Her favorite pastimes were playing Bingo, doing crossword puzzles, and reading.
Laila is survived by daughters Marilyn Lange of Menomonee Falls, WI, Cheryl Shoemake of Wauwatosa, WI, Kathryn Krupp of Mellen, WI and Jodi Rhinehart of Saukville, WI. Grandchildren Sean, Brett, Jeff, Jenny and Jason (Jamie). Great grandchildren Joey, Jaylynn, Jordyn and Jaxtyn. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers Carlo, Otto, Toivo and Frederick, and sisters Rauha, Elvie, Milga and Amelia.
Funeral services will will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L'Anse with Renee Eliason officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Interment will take place in the Aura Cemetery immediately following the services. Following the interment, friends are invited to the Aura Fire Hall for coffee.
